He's An April Fool

14 years ago on this very day...
Very early in the morning on an April Fools day my mother went into labor with my brother Truman. After dropping my other brother Cole and me at my grandparents my parents headed to the hospital.
I didn't believe my grandma when I was told my brother was born. This is obviously a joke (I thought). APRIL FOOLS TO ME! After much convincing from my grandmother I finally wrapped my head around it and believed that what she was telling me was true. i had a new brother.
My grandparents then packed two very eager children into their car and we were off to see our new little brother for the first time.
Walking into the hospital room we were all (obviously) expecting the new little guy to resemble Cole and me. Blond hair, tan skin, brown eyes... This was not so. The first thing that I noticed about my new brother was his peach fuzz, red hair. He later developed hazel eyes, curly hair (which turned from red to auburn), and freckles everywhere. So different then Cole and me. Let me show you what I am talking about with pictures taken of all of us when we were about the same age... I think...

Me

Cole

Truman
It was love at first sight.

He is such a fun brother!

He is good at games...

He wins awards for being awesome...

He doesn't mind getting a little dirty...

He is a self proclaimed ladies man...

A pro climber...

Good at every sport he tries... (don't worry. That's a picture of him and Cole doing yoga together).

He LOVES his muscles and therefore it is a challenge to get this kid to wear a shirt.

As if I have not talked about Truman enough let me tell you about the first time that Steven met him...
So you know when kids are two and you tell them flex their muscles so you can laugh at them? It's cute, right? Imagine a 12 year doing it...
Everyone in my family is aware of how highly Truman thinks of himself, muscles included. He often comes to us and flexes for us without even being asked and is very serious about it.
So Steven came to my house for the first time and we were sitting on the couch in the family room. Truman walked in and I told him to flex his muscles for Steven. Without missing a beat Truman jumps behind the TV stand to hide himself form us. Not even a two seconds later he pops out from behind his hiding place, without his shirt, fully engaged in muscle flexing... ness.
Steven's face was priceless. The best part was how serious Truman was... Oh that boy...
Anyways,
HAPPY 14th BIRTHDAY TRUMAN!!! I love you so very much!
Watch out ladies... he's "stake dance legal" now.

  2. That story about Truman showing Steven his muscles and being so serious is hilarious. I can totally see Steven's face.
