2 opening movies in one week...

Yes, it's true. I sat through not one but TWO movie premiers this week. So basically what I am saying is that I need sleep. But this post is not about my lack of sleep.
The first movie we saw was (obviously) Eclipse. Still have not read the books but despite some cheesy, forced acting, some awkwardness, and steamy scenes that made me feel slightly uncomfortable as I was sandwiched between my mom and my grandma, I really enjoyed the movie! Much more then I thought I would.
My moms friend rented out some theatres at Harkins for the viewing of the show and the best part of the whole thing was that instead of seeing the movie at 12:00am like the rest of the world, we got to see the movie at 8:00pm. It made all the difference in the world.
I went with my mom, grandma, and aunts Juliette, Cherisse, and Tiffany. I don't know about the rest of them but I had a blast!
After a quick bite to eat at PF Chang's we headed over to the theatre for a pre show raffle where I won... nothing.
I am pretty sure that every single Mormon woman I have ever known while living in Mesa were in attendance that night. Even my BFF Hailee was there for the fun. She won a Costa Vida gift card... and will be using it to take me and my hungry baby on a date with it... Right?
Anyways, here is a picture of the theatre when we first got there during the raffle. Don't worry, every seat was packed by the time the movie started.

Naturally, we had to take a picture with the creepy, so real, life sized Jacob and Edward.

(I am clearly team "Jacobs abs" thank you.
It really was a fun night.
The next night was the movie that I was REALLY looking forward to seeing.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIR BENDER.
For those of you who do not know us at all, we are die hard fans of the anime series Avatar on Nickelodeon. We have been looking forward to this movie for over a year.
Steven and I even made shirts for ourselves and my younger brother in preparation for the awesomeness that we were sure was in store for us.

We got to the theatre almost 3 hours early to get our spot in line for the seats with the foot bar in front (which we got), and mostly people watched. Seriously, if you want to see some crazy people, come to a midnight showing of The Last Air bender. Candy for your eyes.
Once we finally got into the theatre the girl sitting next to us brought her lap top and was watching episodes of the animated last air bender on her lap top and she was kind enough to let us watch with her.

Finally, when the movie started, within the first 5 minutes I regretted even going.
Seriously, I have never been this disappointed with any movie my entire life. I had no idea what was going on for most of the movie and I have seen every single episode. It was so bad. If I was not a fan of the animated series, I think I would hate it even more.
Here is what my charming brother had to say about it,
"It makes dance flick look like Casablanca. I would light my face on fire, but it's too wet from my tears of sheer pissed-offness. I've never seen a worse movie in my life."
Really, it pains me to say that I agree with everything that he said... Steven and I are still mourning.
I am no movie critic but I am telling you DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS FILM. Just watch the animated series instead! :)

  2. Agree, agree, agree. Horrible acting. It went wayyy too fast. Horrible acting. I was so confused. And I saw every episode of the anime series! And I'm usually such an M. Night Shamaylan fan. So disappointing.
